Join us as we explore fascinating stone structures in the historic Brookfield area with "Robert Thorson" Professor of Geology at the University of Connecticut and Author of several books; The first field guide to, "Exploring Stone Walls," "Stone By Stone," and "Stone Wall Secrets." We'll stop off for lunch at the innovative Tip Top Country Store in the charming town of Brookfield, MA. Later we'll visit the lovely Riverbend Gallery for an exhibit of fine art, exemplifying stone walls in the Brookfield area arranged by local artists.

Hiking portion of trip: During your trip you will learn the importance of preservation, identification, and ways to manage stone walls. Your hike to each of these stone structures will be moderately easy with few rolling paths in and amongst forested terrain and fields. At each stone wall site your guide will share with you interesting facts about these charming stone structures. We also encourage you to explore the things that might be of interest to you along the way.
