Contact us to schedule a trip
1-4 pm, approx. 3 hrs.

Price: $30.00

Whether you're finding your way back home in the dark, searching the woods for a particularly hard to get to location, or collecting forestry data, a handheld GPS unit can be an extremely useful tool for any outdoor enthusiast or professional. It can also be a daunting experience trying to just figure out how to get the thing to work!

This class will introduce you to the concept of Global Positioning System (GPS) and how you can make it work for you. We will go over the basics of map and compass navigation, learn the benefits and the limitations of using a GPS device, understand the basic functions of most units, and be introduced to the up and coming sport of geocaching.

Bring a GPS unit if you have one (there will be several available for learning) a lunch, and be prepared for some light hiking.
